Caerphilly Community Chorus is the “parent choir” in our organization. The Chorus was formed in September 2009 and caters for adults and young adults aged 15 years or older. Membership is without audition. Ability to read music and choral experience are a plus, but enthusiastic newcomers are welcome. Ability to sing in tune is obligatory! We sing a wide range of music, covering many styles including classical, folk songs, rock and pop classics, gospel, and music theatre. Here are some examples from our repertoire:
- Classical – “Psalm 23” (Howard Goodall), “Non Nobis, Domine” (Quillter) “All Things Bright and Beautiful” (Rutter). “Mara Marakaya” (Karl Jenkins), ” O Fortuna” (Orff), “Requiem Cambrensis” (Nigel Jones).
- Folk Songs – “Ar Lan Y Môr” (Welsh), “The Gift To Be Simple” & “How Can I Keep From Singing?” (American)
- Rock, Pop, Gospel & Spirituals – “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (Paul Simon), “Praise His Holy Name” (Keith Hampton), “Give Us Hope” (Jim Papoulis), “Lean On Me” (Bill Withers), “You Raise Me Up” (Lovland & Graham), “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel” (Geoff Weaver).
- Music Theatre – Medley from “Les Misérables” (Claude-Michel Schönberg, “Shadowland” from “The Lion King” (Rice/John), Medley from “Frozen”.
